James,
Thank you for creating an atmosphere where your fans come together and make friends that support each other in ways beyond being your fans.
When you announced the Queen Mary event, I told my daughter that I wanted to go, and I am so glad I did. (Of course her response was “By yourself?!”) I got to travel to and see a place where I had never been before and meet lovely, smart and funny people.
So after that I went to as many events as I could afford – one or two a year – and have had a wonderful time at every one.
I have made friends that have supported me through hard times and we keep in touch other than your fan sites.
I have always found you to be real and generous to your fans and have always been pleased with the few minutes time spent talking to you. I know that there is no way that you can remember names and conversations, I know that I couldn’t, but that does not matter as everyone gets your full attention for that few minutes.
There have been times the ‘real life issues’ have been apparent in your attitude at these events, but to me that is a plus not a minus. I want to see as much real James as you want to show us, not robot James.
Your marvelous talent caused me to become your fan and the person you are (or the person you allow us to see) has caused me to remain a fan. I am in my seventies and you are the first person that I have ever been a ‘fan girl’ over. It has given me so much fun in my old age so thanks for that.
It makes me happy to see that your life is coming together for you, because a happy, joyful, smiling James is wonderful to see. May you have many, many years of happiness and work that you love.
Your ‘Old Lady’ fan,
