Grand Slam 2008 Report

Grand Slam 2008 Report

Sat. autograph with James. I had printed out the pictures of James
at 13 at the Theatre camp. I showed it to him and asked if that was
him. He said yes. He said, "I'm going to keep this because I don't
want you to have it." I said, "You can have it, I have it on my
computer." Then he looks at it some more and said, "Oh, this is at
Asilomar - I was happy there. I'd like to have this. "The way he
said it, you just knew that it was one of the few happy times in his
childhood. I just cannot imagine how unloved he felt as a child. (I
did not have the most stable of childhoods, but I always felt that
my family cared about me.)

Karl Anderson, Paul Marsters, Russell Denney, Lisa Dolit, Naomi Selig, Lisa Selig, Alisa Levy and Jim Marsters on the Pacific coast beach at Asilomar State Beach on Aug. 17, 1976.

He is burying Lisa Selig’s feet in the sand. (Aug. 17, 1976)

Then I gave him the 5 comic book set of Spike's Asylum. I asked if
he had them, and he said no. So I said "Now you do."

I also had watched on Wed a show about Randy Rausch and his book The
Last Lecture. He is a man in his forties who has terminal cancer
and his last lecture was funny and inspirational. I went the next
day and bought the book. When I gave it to James, I said, "I think
you will like this book, it is inspirational not religious." He
said, "I need a book to read. I was reading a Grishum book, but
left it behind at the airport."

Before I left I said that he seemed to have gotten a handle on his
hair as it looked really good and he said "Yeah, I just don't do
anything to it."

I had him autograph the `Like A Waterfall' Picture I got taken at
the CD Launch.

The photo op went really fast and James was sitting down. I did ask
him if he was ready for his concert that night and he said "Yes". I
also said "Will it be as good as San Diego?" and he said "You know
it".

Photo op with a sitting down James.

Sat. concert. I had seat B20. Well, I thought I did anyway. We
were finially let in and when I got to my seat someone else was
sitting there. Their ticket said B20 also. I went out and saw
Steve Himber and told him the problem. He took me to a Creation
Entertainment person, who was not very helpful. She told me to take
whatever seat was vacant in that row. I told her that none were
vacant and I had paid $50 for that god dammed ticket (well actually
$57.25) and I should sit close to my scheduled seat. I told her
that a chair should be brought up to the front for me. She didn't
think that could be done. Steve was there trying to make this dumb
women understand the problem and he spoke up to say he would do it.
We went into the room, where James had already started performing,
and moved a chair up beside the first row for me. Bless his heart.
It really pissed me off that I missed part of the concert.

Getting this signed photo almost made it worth it, but would sure love to meet Anthony in person.

The next morning, I went and complained about the many screw ups by
Creation – my Silver ticket was confirmed by email as E8, then when
someone else had the same seat I was told E3 by phone. When my
ticket arrived it was E5. And then two tickets for the same concert
seat!!!! I mean how hard is it to write a seat number on a ticket
and cross it off a list??? Anyhow, I was given a $30 Creation
Entertainment Credit, and I got a lovely Tony Head autographed
picture for it. Maybe missing part of the concert was worth it.

I decided to buy another James' autograph. I had brought The JMlive
calendar that my daughter made for me and had him sign it. This
time I told him about my ticket hassle and how Steve helped. Steve
was standing there and smirked at me. James said "I saw you over
there". ( I guess so, with Steve bringing a chair up and putting it
by the first row at the left of the stage while James was singing) I
showed James the Tony Head picture I got and he said "Yeah he was
the best actor on the show." And I said that Tony was the reason
that I started watching Buffy.

I don't remember much about James' Q and A. I do remember the question
about would he give up the career he has and just have a mundane job
to have had a normal childhood. He said yes with no hesitation.
And then sort of quiet – to have a loving family – with so much
longing in his voice.

The other moment from Sun I must tell you what he said about over
sleeping. He said "The woman in my life - my niece - reprogrammed my
climent(spelling? ) control. I woke up at 3am, sweating and why is it
so hot in here." Then he said "She is so smart." with so much love
and pride in his voice. I just went aaww. God I just love that man.

I don't know who took the Hawaiian shirt pictures and I am sorry for swiping them but he just looks so delicious that I just had to.

And I loved James in that Hawaiian shirt - so cute. It took my
breath away when he walked out in it at Grand Slam.

Having fun in Hollywood.
