Iron Mountain Missouri Train Trip 2000

A year after my husband died, I decided that I needed to get out and do some things and maybe make some friends. I joined the Hazelwood, MO Community Center. I saw that they had a trip planned to the Iron Mountain Train. That sounded like fun to me as I like trains.

We met at the Comunity Center to take a bus. No one sat with me or talked with me on the bus. We stopped for lunch and I asked two women at a table if I could sit with them, which was OK. But shortly after they got up and moved leaving all alone again. No one sat with me at lunch. I was starting to feel really depressed.

We arrived at the train and no one talked to me while we waited to board. When we boarded a man and wife finally asked me to sit with them. By that time I was nearly in tears. I am a friendly, outgoing person, but until then this was the rudest group of people I had ever had the misfortune to be in contact with.

So it was very nice of this couple to include me. The train trip itself was very nice. They had a Jessie James hold up. Of course I was all alone on the bus back home. I went to work the next day and told them that I wasn't going to try that again.
